Anti-Clockwise

anti-clockwise is a project protesting against objective temporality and the conventional ways of telling time. The clock leaves me feeling numb, frustrated and confused. This project explores the other, the alt, through subjective temporality. For me, subjective time overrides the importance of the clock as a method of time telling. It is more concerned with intuition, spontaneity and unsophistication, instead of routine and schedule.

Throughout this project, time became a sensation. I considered the navigation of time in a pitch-black world. Heavily influenced by time-space synesthesia, I explored the world through colour, texture and sound. I used writing, poetry and film to intuitively navigate my days and highlight the importance of Uchronia, a temporal utopia where there is 'no time'.

My Unsophisticated Diary is a visually written, hand-printed and bound diary demonstrating an alternative, more reassuring experience of time; one that is playful yet productive. It expresses my personal experience of time passing in a nonsensical, disjointed voice. The diary is to be read by those who feel existential about time, experience time-space synesthesia and who struggle with adhering to routine and schedule: the latecomers. It is designed to reassure and act as a sense of comfort and relief to those who feel the same way I do. The diary acts as a subtle, non-intrusive protest for an alternative way of seeing, hearing and tasting time.

Temporality can and should be played with, irrespective of what the clock says.
