Surprise! Surprise! Chuck it's Auntie Cilla 'ere. I'm back with my new show, Apologise! Apologise! where I track down unsuspecting public figures and force them to apologise on the tele for your entertainment. Get ready for a lorra lorra laughs… and tears.
The concept of Apologise! Apologise! stems from an arising outrage and accountability culture in which public
performances of remorse are becoming normalised as an incarnation of light entertainment. Through the performative and participatory medium of puppetry, the project aims to showcase current behavioural norms by manifesting, signifying and reflecting on the socio-cultural situation of apologetic
society and the judicial authorities within it. Apologise! Apologise! situates itself in the hostile digitised space of the modern-day town square. A space where one can 'call out', 'drag' and boycott societal villains, challenge power structures and facilitate public shaming acts for town square visitors.
Taking a seat on our Cilla's sofa is now a frightening prospect, however it will soon be a reality for the next gobsmacked public figure apologising for a wrongdoing they thought they had gotten away with.
