Behind The Concrete

Behind The Concrete is a project exploring time, which makes it in a constant state of growing and shrinking, in its search for a way to introduce the past and the future. It retells the communist regime in Bulgaria not as a political statement, but rather as a documentation of everyday life, with a focus on Bulgarian design and lack of its development after the fall of the regime. It searches for ways to break the standards built by close minded concepts emerging in the 50s and thinks of how to grow as a creative, united country through offering the younger generation an opportunity to objectively learn about their past and engage with creative practices, which are yet to enter Bulgaria's educational system.

It is a proposition to change the way we talk about our past (either extremely negatively or frighteningly nostalgic) and the career opportunities we have in the future (removing the taboo around working in the creative industry and looking at introducing more art careers).
