Common Threads revolves around translating and encoding thoughts, feelings and time through the process of hand sewing to create an archive of emotions and environments. Inspired by the recently uncertain times, I used this process as a reminder to be present every day and promote positive material engagement. Often, we forget to take notice of the environments we are in due to the distracting digital realm. To distance myself from this enticing distraction, I explored an analogue process that requires a vast amount of time and concentration. In a fast-paced, stressful world I found calm through sewing.
