Regaining Agency Over the Products We Consume: A project to inspire self-education

This project explores society's relationship with the objects we use, particularly our diminishing knowledge of how things work and the ability to fix them. I focus on how we can use self-education as a tool to regain agency over the objects we consume; to teach ourselves how they work through making. I taught myself how cars functioned by making a scaled down version of one myself, from scratch. Then I shared everything I had learnt online, so other people could use my process as an example or methodology for teaching themselves about their everyday objects. My hope is that this methodology inspires other like-minded people to take on their own projects and learn how an object works through making it themselves.
